FELIPE CARDENA
Defined as a "Banksy-style mysterious artist" by Corriere della Sera, Felipe Cardeña is an artist who, just as Banksy, plays with his own identity. His face is unknown to most, but his works are now famous and recognizable all over the world because of their taste and their figurative choices.
After some appearances in several exhibitions such as Vade Retro (curated by Vittorio Sgarbi and Eugenio Viola) and Street Art Sweet Art in Milan, towards the end of 2007 the first major project of Cardeña was born: Power Flower. Power Flower is an opportunity to discover colour, explore its nuances, and play with combinations; in fact, the subjects of this artworks are very different between them (they go from the ancient Greek statues to Manga characters, passing through pop icons like superheroes and pin-ups girls), but always having in common a flamboyant background. This background is made by a large collage, always different and in constant evolution, composed of many vivid images based on and taken from the public imaginary.
