THE ARTWORK

-

Known worldwide and already an icon for countless advertising campaigns, Leonardo da Vinci's “The Last Supper”, an oil fresco kept in the refectory of the Benedictines in Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, is interpreted in a Pop and contemporary key by Tomoko Nagao. The work becomes a piece of Vectorial Art, in which Jesus and the Apostles have a junk-food dinner on a table laid with an Ikea tablecloth (bearing the artist's signature), together with other contemporary pop icons very familiar to us, such as Lady Gaga.
Tomoko Nagao studied the composition of her work with the help of Mario Taddei, one of the greatest international experts on Leonardo's work (and curator of the “Leonardo 3” exhibition, an internationally successful show during which Leonardo's masterpieces were reconstructed in 3D using very complex software), choosing to keep the original composition, the faded colours and all the objects present in the fresco, such as the knife and the salt spilled near Judas who, instead of the bag of coins in Leonardo's work, holds in his hands a phablet with the Google app open.
