Made in 2023, Silver Spoons is a unique work on paper by French-American artist JonOne, a leading figure in the contemporary art scene with roots in the New York graffiti movement of the 1980s. Born and raised in Harlem, JonOne has been able to transform the urban language of writing into an abstract, gestural art form, taking his practice to an international scale.

In this 50x65 cm work, the artist employs gouache, ink and spray paint to bring to life a layered and vibrant visual composition. The multiple colors chase each other in a fast-paced rhythm, generating a web of marks, spots and gestures that convey energy and freedom. The surface of the paper becomes the scene of a chromatic explosion where there is no precise compositional center: each area of the sheet is traversed by the same intensity, creating a dynamic tension that seems to extend beyond the edges of the work.

Despite its apparent spontaneity, Silver Spoons reveals a refined formal construction, matured through years of experimentation. The absence of figuration gives way to a pure visual experience, where each trace tells of the urban identity and creative impulse that have always characterized JonOne's work.

JONONE - BIOGRAPHY

JonOne, artist who grew up in Harlem (New York), began his career by creating graffiti on the streets of the neighbourhood and signing with the tag Jon156. Street artist JonOne approached the official art world in 1987, when he moved to France, where he is currently one of the most appreciated contemporary artists, so much so that in 2015 he was awarded the Legion of Honour of the French Republic. Colour brilliance, pictorial matter and calligraphy constitute the common denominators of his works. JonOne usually repeats his 'JonOne' tag in his canvases as well, keeping the link with writing alive. His style is an original synthesis of graffiti and abstract expressionism, from which he takes the dripping technique. His works, charged with colour and energy, convey dynamism and vitality, involving the viewer's emotionality. The artist has taken part in numerous institutional exhibitions such as at the Fondation Cartier and the Grand Palais in Paris and at Palazzo Farnese in Rome. JonOne has also collaborated with major brands including Guerlain, Lacoste, Perrier and AirFrance.

The artwork is delicate and requires a custom-made wooden box to protect it during transportation. Delivery to EU countries takes 5-15 business days.

If you live in Europe (CEE) the price we show you already includes taxes. The works are taxed either with VAT exposed (5%) or VAT with the margin, if you are a private person you do not change anything, if you are a company: in In the first case, you will recover the VAT, in the second, no. When you put the works in the cart you will be separated from the vat exposed.

If you DON'T LIVE IN EU and you want an EXTRA EU shipping

Many works (not all) have an exposed VAT of 5% included in the price, this vat will be spun off! Obviously you will pay the VAT to your destination country, if due. For example if you live in Switzerland you save 5% but you will have to pay 8.1% to your customs, if you live in Hong Kong you will save 5% and you will not have to pay anything to your customs (lucky you).

PAYMENT

If you complete the purchase on the site you can use a credit card, or you can make a bank transfer. Payment in cash is accepted up to 5,000 euros physically in one of our stores. Payments in BitCoin or cryptocurrencies are NOT accepted.
