Helmut Newton - Père-Lachaise, Tomb of Talma, Paris, 1977

The work by Helmut Newton, Père-Lachaise, Tomb of Talma, Paris, 1977 is a dated and hand signed by the artist.

The photographer Helmut Newton was one of the great protagonists of photography of the twentieth century. For Helmut Newton, nudes and erotic content will be essential in his work. Pioneer and a revolutionary in the world of fashion thanks to his shots, he introduced for the first time the nude photos of the models in the 60’s and worked for many important magazines such as Vogue, Vanity Fair and GQ.

The woman is photographed next to the grave of Fernand Arbelot, musician, actor and architect remembered for the style of his tomb. In fact, his tomb features a bronze sculpture of a man lying down holding a female head in his hands: the face of his wife. This tomb depicts Arbelot's last wish: to contemplate his wife's face forever.

Hidden behind the model it is partially visible the grave of François-Joseph Talma, a nineteenth-century French theatrical actor.

The photograph, dated and hand signed, is in black and white. The photolithograph on paper measures 40x27 cm.
