Orticanoodles – Flesh Garden #8

The work is part of the Flesh Garden series by Orticanoodles, a Milan-based artistic collective founded in the early 2000s and recognized as one of the protagonists of Italian Street Art.

Created as a collage on paper, the work features a vintage frame included, conceived as an integral part of the work, and presents a vertical composition dominated by dark, red and grey tones. The image is built through strips and fragments that interrupt and recompose figures and visual details, while typographic elements and small graphic inserts cross the centre of the surface. The golden frame, rich and textured, creates a marked contrast with the more contemporary and fragmented character of the collage.

In line with Orticanoodles' research, Flesh Garden #8 relates urban visual culture to a precise and stratified formal construction. The vertical arrangement of the fragments recalls the principle of montage and overlapping typical of the collective, while the presence of worn marks, abrasions and irregular chromatic passages gives the work a quality close to the city's walls.

The work does not offer a stable image, but a sequence of presences that emerge and disappear within the composition. Flesh Garden #8 thus suggests a reflection on identity and visual memory, both built through fragments, interferences and recompositions. The contrast between the historicizing frame and the urban language of the collage further amplifies this tension between past and present.
