Orticanoodles – Flesh Garden #7

The work is part of the Flesh Garden series by Orticanoodles, a Milan-based artistic collective founded in the early 2000s and recognized as one of the protagonists of Italian Street Art.

Created as a collage on paper, the work features a vintage frame included, conceived as an integral part of the work, and develops a horizontal composition built through a succession of vertical bands and overlapping fragments. Figurative elements, anatomical portions, fluorescent color fields, graphic marks and typographic inserts coexist in a tight structure, punctuated by acid greens, pinks, yellows and blacks. The fragmentation of the image interrupts the continuity of the body and figure, transforming them into a visual construction made of cuts, slippages and recompositions.

In line with Orticanoodles' research, the work combines an urban-rooted language with a strong attention to graphic rhythm and stratification. The use of saturated colors and quasi-advertising elements recalls the collective's experience in stencil and muralism, while the more intimate format of collage allows for a more detailed exploration of the relationship between image, surface and detail.

Without constructing a univocal narrative, Flesh Garden #7 invites the viewer to read the image in fragments, relating the body to signs, symbols and color fields that continuously modify its perception. The work thus reflects some central themes of Orticanoodles' poetics: identity as an unstable construction, contamination between languages and the transformation of the image through overlapping and montage.
