Orticanoodles – Flesh Garden #9

The work is part of the Flesh Garden series by Orticanoodles, a Milan-based artistic collective founded in the early 2000s and recognized as one of the protagonists of Italian Street Art.

Created as a collage on paper, the work features a vintage frame included, conceived as an integral part of the work, and develops a vertical composition centred on the fragmentary reconstruction of a human figure. The body appears broken down into bands, with anatomical elements, fluorescent color fields, graphic inserts and figurative portions overlapping in a compact structure. Reds, acid yellows, blues and blacks accentuate the hybrid character of the image.

In line with Orticanoodles' research, the work combines figuration, urban mark and graphic fragmentation. The body is not represented as a unit, but is reconstructed through a visual montage that alternates recognizable parts with abstract and decorative elements. The golden, ornamental frame introduces a further level of contrast, relating the tradition of the framed object to a contemporary and unstable visual language.

In Flesh Garden #9, the figure seems to oscillate continuously between recognizability and dissolution. The body becomes a surface of passage for different images, an open structure in which anatomy, color and mark coexist without fully merging. The work thus reflects the poetics of Orticanoodles, founded on hybridization, stratification and the transformation of identity through the multiplication of visual languages.
