Marco Lodola - Braccio di Ferro

The work "Braccio di ferro" by Marco Lodola, created in 2024, is a drawing on paper of 21x29 cm that embodies the simplicity and essentiality typical of his style. It depicts two stylized figures engaged in a show of strength, which could be interpreted as a friendly or symbolic challenge, given that the two protagonists appear to be in an arm-wrestling position. Thin and clean lines outline the bodies with a minimalist stroke, without superfluous details, evoking a sensation of restrained movement and balanced tension.

The contrast between the two figures, one younger and one more mature, suggests an intergenerational confrontation, also highlighted by the different styles of clothing: one casual, the other more formal. Lodola, famous for his ability to combine simple forms with profound meanings, here plays with the duality between physical and symbolic force, probably alluding to competition, but also to the cooperation hidden behind the gesture. This representation, though minimal, manages to capture a complex dynamic, characteristic of Lodola's visual language.

Marco Lodola and the Historic Calendar of the Carabinieri Corps

The Historic Calendar of the Carabinieri Corps, first published in 1928, is a true artistic icon that recounts the pride and tradition of the Corps through unique illustrations. Devised in Florence by General Gino Poggesi, then inspector of the III Zone, it has become a fixed appointment over time, with supervision by the Historic Museum of the Corps from 1934 to 1944.

Since 2016, the calendar has taken an innovative turn: its images are digitally created, with carabinieri immersed in masterpieces by great masters of painting, blending tradition and modernity in an unprecedented artistic tribute.
