THE ARTWORK

-

The birds are a recurrent theme in the works of Braque and they represent a metaphor for the liberty and the peace, especially after the Second World war. In the last period of his life, the artist repeatedly painted works with birds, that become in this way perfect subjects to express his constant research between space and movement. In this beautiful lithography on paper, Braque represents a bird while is flying in a grey sky with three circles: two yellows and one pink, which would probably represent the sun and the moon during the period of the equinox, as it suggests us the title.

This work is signed and numbered in original by Georges Braque. It was printed and published by Maeght with code of catalogue Vallier 177. The work is published on the raisonné catalogue of Georges Braque of Dora Vallier.
