2022 has now come to an end, and like every year-end it is time to take stock!

This year, the Deodato Arte Gallery was the stage for several artworks from the greatest Italian and international artists, as well as giving great space - and meeting with great success by the public - to emerging artists.

Discover Deodato Arte's 2022 Exhibitions

To celebrate the end of a wonderful year of art exhibitions by Deodato Arte, we take a look back at the most significant exhibitions of 2022.

DAVID LACHAPELLE: POEMS AND FEVERS | 17/11-14/01

DAVID LACHAPELLE: POEMS AND FEVERS

The year at Deodato Arte Gallery could not end without the exhibition of one of the most famous photographers of the 21st century, David LaChapelle.

After a very successful exhibition at Mudec, the Museum of Cultures in Milan, David LaChapelle returned to the city of Milan to present his first exhibition in an Italian art gallery.

The exhibition, entitled "David LaChapelle: Poems and Fevers" was curated by Gianni Mercurio and was the opening show of the new space of Deodato Arte Gallery in via Nerino 1.

Among the 26 works on display were several portraits of celebrities, such as Britney Spears, Leonardo DiCaprio and David Hockney, but also artworks inspired by myths of Christianity, religious icons and biblical scenes.

ROMERO BRITTO: POP ART EMPIRE | 9/06 - 2/07

ROMERO BRITTO: POP ART EMPIRE

Milan was the venue for another exhibition of a great international artist, Romero Britto. With "Romero Britto: Pop Art Empire", the Brazilian artist returned to Italy four years after his last solo exhibition.

The exhibition saw not only the long-awaited return of the master of the Happy Art Movement, but also a new and exclusive collaboration with Bellini Nautica.

Romero Britto: Pop Art Empire brought together both the iconic works of Romero Britto's artistic production and exclusive new artworks.

DANIELE FORTUNA: POP CLASSICISM | 5/05 - 4/06

DANIELE FORTUNA: POP CLASSICISM

Besides being the stage for great international artists such as David LaChapelle and Romero Britto, the Deodato Arte Gallery is engaged in promoting and supporting emerging artists, as in the case of Daniele Fortuna's exhibition entitled "Daniele Fortuna: Pop Classicism".

The exhibition-event presented the iconic painted wood sculptures of his best-known series such as Colormination and Heads Will Roll, as well as the previously unseen Mirrors.

One of the main features of the artist's work is the combination of elements from the past, such as the depiction of faces from ancient statues, together with the use of bright, vivid colours that recall the Pop world.

THE MIAZ BROTHERS IN PIETRASANTA | 7/05 - 19/05

THE MIAZ BROTHERS IN PIETRASANTA

In May, Deodato Arte Gallery in cooperation with Wunderkammern Gallery presented an exhibition entitled "The Miaz Brothers in Pietrasanta".

The exhibition was held at the Deodato Arte Gallery in Pietrasanta and aimed to tell the story of the art of the two brothers from Monza (a town in Lombardy) through a special selection of unique pieces on canvas, some inspired by the works of the Great Masters of European art history.

The art of the Miaz Brothers is the result of a long journey of research; they have experimented with different techniques before turning to painting and renewing their approach to portraits.

MR. BRAINWASH: EDITIONS | 29/03 - 24/06

MR. BRAINWASH: EDITIONS

The Deodato Arte Gallery in Brussels was chosen as the venue for Mr. Brainwash's exhibition "Mr. Brainwash: Editions".

In the exhibition, the street artist Mr. Brainwash was portrayed through his joyful and colourful approach to life, which caught the attention of collectors and art lovers alike.

The artist's limited editions were presented to the public in a thoughtful itinerary focusing on the artist's most iconic subjects and with insights into rare and exclusive editions.

ANGELO ACCARDI SHOW: NONSENSE MAKES SENSE | 6/04 - 30/04

ANGELO ACCARDI SHOW: NONSENSE MAKES SENSE

During 2022, Milan and the Deodato Arte Gallery were the setting for another well-known and globally appreciated artist, Angelo Accardi.

The exhibition "Nonsense Makes Sense" was about "everyday rebellion that aspires to freedom". In the exhibition, Angelo Accardi wanted to convey this rebellion for the benefit of anyone who wanted to approach contemporary art, but also for those who decide to appropriate it for their own - personal or collective - everyday rebellion.

For the occasion, the Deodato Arte gallery changed its appearance: the artworks were immersed in a kaleidoscopic play of graphic patterns, a completely new visual experience that will also be shared outside the gallery with street gallery interventions set up in hidden corners of the Milanese suburbs, in a sort of augmented reality, not virtual but real.

THE HEART OF THE CITY | 26/05 – 26/06

THE HEART OF THE CITY

Another key exhibition that saw the collaboration between Deodato Arte Gallery and the Vik Hotel in Milan was the exhibition "The heart of the city". Held in the space of the Milan hotel, the exhibition featured two unique works by Spanish artist José Molina: Galleria Vittorio Emanuele - Milan and Roma Infinita. The two works on display were created with the artist's unmistakable style and expert stroke, encapsulating the heart of the two cities.

DA WARHOL A BANKSY

A major exhibition in a small town. This was the premise of the exhibition "From Warhol to Banksy" in which the artworks of Pop and contemporary artists dialogued with the splendid frescoes of the stately Palazzo Bertamini in Fiorenzuola d'Arda.

DA WARHOL A BANKSY

Great artists such as Banksy, Andy Warhol, Obey and Mr. Brainwash transformed Fiorenzuola d'Arda into an artistic and cultural epicentre for three months thanks to the collaboration of the Municipal Administration of Fiorenzuola d'Arda and the Deodato Arte gallery.

Such a great exhibition, in a small town like Fiorenzuola d'Arda, represents the exact overturning of the canons and stereotypes to which the public is accustomed. For me it is an honour, and yet another great achievement, to be able to bring an event of such media relevance here: a challenge that was initially considered impossible, but with the help of an active and visionary Municipal Administration we have made a dream possible, not only for the people of Piacenza, but for all the visitors who will come to our town, even for the first time. Great results necessarily require great ambitions - Luca Bravo, curator of the exhibition
