THE MATCH: Angelo Accardi and Gianpiero D'Alessandro, two visual languages meet in Milan

On Thursday 22 October, at the Deodato Arte gallery in Via Nerino 1, Milan, THE MATCH opened: the project bringing together Angelo Accardi and Gianpiero D'Alessandro. The opening was an art night featuring a live performance by both artists, who worked side by side in front of the audience.
Two artists, one encounter
Angelo Accardi, born in Sapri in 1964, is one of the most recognisable names in Italian Pop Surrealism: his crowded, disorienting scenes put the unexpected at the centre of everyday life. Gianpiero D'Alessandro, from Somma Vesuviana, is an illustrator and designer who has built a personal imagery around his red teddy bear, now a true signature.
From the Venice Biennale to Milan
The dialogue between the two artists began in 2024 in Venice, during the Biennale, with Icarus' Dream. THE MATCH takes that exchange to a new level: no longer two voices placed side by side, but a shared body of work.
A title with a double meaning
"Match" means both challenge and perfect pairing. In the works, Accardi's and D'Alessandro's worlds confront and fit into each other: Accardi's surreal crowds and architecture welcome D'Alessandro's red teddy bear, in a play of references that rewards the attentive eye.
Four-handed works
The project consists of limited editions signed by both artists. The works are available at the Milan gallery and online, in the Accardi and Gianpiero collection.
