Deodato Arte inaugurates a new space for contemporary art in L’Aquila

Deodato Arte inaugurates its new venue in L’Aquila, located at Via Marrelli 6/8, with a special opening event scheduled for May 21 at 6:30 PM. A new space dedicated to contemporary art, Pop Art, and international Street Art, created to welcome collectors, enthusiasts, and visitors in the heart of the Abruzzo capital.
The opening will be celebrated with the presence of artist Mr. Savethewall, who will perform a live artistic intervention accompanying the gallery’s official inauguration. A unique opportunity to experience the artist’s ironic and immediate visual language and to enjoy a moment of connection between art, people, and the local community.
The new Deodato Arte venue in L’Aquila joins the gallery’s existing spaces in some of the most important Italian and European destinations, including Milan, Rome, Pietrasanta, Courmayeur, Porto Cervo, Padua, Chia, and St. Moritz. Founded in Milan by Deodato Salafia, the gallery brings its vision of contemporary art to the Abruzzo capital, with a proposal focused on Pop Art and international Street Art.
Deodato Arte in L’Aquila: Contemporary Art in a City of Culture
The arrival of Deodato Arte in L’Aquila comes at a time of strong cultural and identity-driven revival for the city, also in view of its role as Italian Capital of Culture 2026. The Abruzzo capital, historically a crossroads of art, culture, and history, represents the ideal setting for an exhibition project dedicated to the most vibrant languages of contemporary art.
With this new opening, Deodato Arte brings the irreverent energy of Pop Art and Street Art to L’Aquila, creating a dialogue between international artists, urban heritage, and the local public. The gallery aims to become a new point of reference for those wishing to discover contemporary art in a dynamic, accessible space that is constantly connected to the city.
The Opening Event with a Live Performance by Mr. Savethewall
On the occasion of the inauguration, Mr. Savethewall will present his work through a live performance open to the public. Known for his ironic and direct artistic language, the artist combines criticism of contemporary society with pop imagery through visually striking works.
Among his most recognizable subjects is the Frog, an anthropomorphized figure dressed in elegant clothing, symbolizing modern man absorbed by work and his own contradictions. The reference to the fairy tale The Frog Prince is reinterpreted with irony: even after transformation, the creature remains true to its own nature.
International Artists in the Heart of Abruzzo
The new Deodato Arte venue will feature works by major protagonists of Pop Art and Street Art, including Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Banksy, Mr. Brainwash, and Takashi Murakami, alongside many other internationally renowned artists.
The gallery will be open from Wednesday to Saturday, from 10 AM to 1 PM and from 4 PM to 8 PM.
