Jacopo Di Cera – Milky Bath #2 (2025)

The photographic work by Jacopo Di Cera, Milky Bath #2, belongs to the series "Milky Way", in which the artist investigates one of Italy's most ambiguous and unsettling landscapes: the White Beaches of Rosignano Solvay, where the light of the Mediterranean blends with the artificial light generated by the industrial discharge from the Solvay factory.

It is a place where nature and chemistry merge until losing their identity, creating a non-place suspended between attraction and unease. The milk-colored water and white sand tell of a "false" but irresistible beauty, of a paradise created by human error that becomes an icon of our era of contradictions.

The collection consists of photographs and videos: on one hand, the physical images capture the illusion of this surreal scenario; on the other, the videos in infinite loop — part of the Infinity project — extend the perception of time, transforming the experience into a continuous flow, without beginning or end. In this "phygital" dimension, the work exists simultaneously in real and digital space, inviting the viewer to lose themselves in a sea that no longer belongs to time, but to imagination.

Rosignano, in the artist's hands, becomes a visual metaphor for modernity: a place where man, despite knowing the fiction, continues to dive in. It is the representation of an impossible beauty, where matter dissolves into light and truth blurs with its reflected image.

Created using Fine Art technique on Baryta paper, mounted on Dibond and protected by 5 mm plexiglass, the work measures 145.3 × 84.4 cm and is produced in a limited edition of 6 copies, numbered and signed. Each photograph is born from careful work on composition and color, in which the aesthetics of the landscape blend with reflection on contemporary social and environmental conditions, between physical and digital, reality and representation.

Jacopo Di Cera: from communication to contemporary art

Jacopo Di Cera (Milan, 1981) is an Italian photographer and digital artist who blends aesthetics with social commitment. After an early career in the field of communication, he moved to Rome where he trained with international masters of photography. 

Here he developed a unique style that led him to found Photomaterism, an artistic movement that transforms matter into a visual and narrative language.

The project that marked his breakthrough: Fino alla Fine del Mare

In 2010, Di Cera won the National Geographic international competition. Six years later, he gained wide recognition with Fino alla Fine del Mare (2016), a project dedicated to the theme of migration through the abandoned boats of Lampedusa. 

The work gained international resonance and was showcased in prestigious venues such as Paris Photo, MIA Photo Fair Milan, PAN – Palazzo delle Arti di Napoli, Les Rencontres de la Photographie Arles, Paratissima Turin, and Atelier Photo Geneva.

Exhibitions in the temples of contemporary art

Jacopo Di Cera has been featured in exhibitions hosted by iconic and internationally renowned institutions. Key milestones include his solo exhibition at the Museum of Rome in Trastevere, his show at the PAN in Naples, his participation in Paris Photo, and his presence at the Venice Biennale (2017), where he exhibited aboard the Edipo Re, Pier Paolo Pasolini’s legendary boat. 

These achievements have established Di Cera among the most recognized Italian photographers on the global stage.

Innovation, aerial photography and digital art

Driven by a constant desire to experiment, Di Cera has expanded his artistic research into new visual languages: from aerial drone photography to Sospesi, a poetic portrait of Italy from above. 

Since 2020, he has embraced digital art, engaging with international communities and exhibiting in Rome, Milan, Miami, New York, Paris, and Dubai.

New horizons and international recognition

In 2024, he represented Italy at Art Dubai Fair and in 2025 he unveiled Retreat, the fair’s main installation focused on climate change. 

Today, his works—both physical and digital—are part of important public and private collections, and continue to be exhibited in leading museums and galleries worldwide.

If you live in Europe (CEE) the price we show you already includes taxes. The works are taxed either with VAT exposed (5%) or VAT with the margin, if you are a private person you do not change anything, if you are a company: in In the first case, you will recover the VAT, in the second, no. When you put the works in the cart you will be separated from the vat exposed.

If you DON'T LIVE IN EU and you want an EXTRA EU shipping

Many works (not all) have an exposed VAT of 5% included in the price, this vat will be spun off! Obviously you will pay the VAT to your destination country, if due. For example if you live in Switzerland you save 5% but you will have to pay 8.1% to your customs, if you live in Hong Kong you will save 5% and you will not have to pay anything to your customs (lucky you).
