Geometry #5

Jacopo Di Cera – Geometry #5

Jacopo Di Cera’s work, Geometry #5, presents an ordered and luminous composition, built through the repetition of beach umbrellas and sunbeds observed from above. The image offers an essential view of the seaside space, where the elements of summer life are arranged according to a precise and recognizable geometric rhythm.

The aerial perspective transforms the beach into an almost abstract surface, where the turquoise colour of the umbrellas and sunbeds interacts with the light tone of the sand. The regular arrangement of the elements creates a clear visual balance, while a few small presences and variations within the scene interrupt the symmetry, discreetly introducing a reference to the human dimension.

Created as a screen print on paper with glossy inserts, the work measures 33 × 48 cm and is produced in a limited edition of 50 signed and numbered pieces.

In Geometry #5, Jacopo Di Cera continues his investigation of the Italian landscape through a contemporary interpretation of collective space. The beach becomes an ordered and suspended place, where composition, colour and visual memory come together in an image of strong aesthetic impact.

Jacopo Di Cera: from communication to contemporary art

Jacopo Di Cera (Milan, 1981) is an Italian photographer and digital artist who blends aesthetics with social commitment. After an early career in the field of communication, he moved to Rome where he trained with international masters of photography.

Here he developed a unique style that led him to found Photomaterism, an artistic movement that transforms matter into a visual and narrative language.

The project that marked his breakthrough: Fino alla Fine del Mare

In 2010, Di Cera won the National Geographic international competition. Six years later, he gained wide recognition with Fino alla Fine del Mare (2016), a project dedicated to the theme of migration through the abandoned boats of Lampedusa.

The work gained international resonance and was showcased in prestigious venues such as Paris Photo, MIA Photo Fair Milan, PAN – Palazzo delle Arti di Napoli, Les Rencontres de la Photographie Arles, Paratissima Turin, and Atelier Photo Geneva.

Exhibitions in the temples of contemporary art

Jacopo Di Cera has been featured in exhibitions hosted by iconic and internationally renowned institutions. Key milestones include his solo exhibition at the Museum of Rome in Trastevere, his show at the PAN in Naples, his participation in Paris Photo, and his presence at the Venice Biennale (2017), where he exhibited aboard the Edipo Re, Pier Paolo Pasolini’s legendary boat.

These achievements have established Di Cera among the most recognized Italian photographers on the global stage.

Innovation, aerial photography and digital art

Driven by a constant desire to experiment, Di Cera has expanded his artistic research into new visual languages: from aerial drone photography to Sospesi, a poetic portrait of Italy from above.

Since 2020, he has embraced digital art, engaging with international communities and exhibiting in Rome, Milan, Miami, New York, Paris, and Dubai.

New horizons and international recognition

In 2024, he represented Italy at Art Dubai Fair and in 2025 he unveiled Retreat, the fair’s main installation focused on climate change.

Today, his works—both physical and digital—are part of important public and private collections, and continue to be exhibited in leading museums and galleries worldwide.
