A sculpture by Mr. Brainwash reached 1,1 million dollars donated to support medical research

Mr. Brainwash touched a record-breaking figure of 1,1 million dollars thanks to Giant Heart Balloon, a 2021 sculpture donated by the street artist to the University Health Network (UHN).

The artist is a long-time supporter of the UHN Foundation, a Toronto-based charity committed to raising funds in order to finance medical research and improve patient care in local hospitals. This time a sculpture donated to UHN and going up for auction at the 17th Grand Cru Culinary Wine Festival exceeded expectations.

Eleven donors gave 100.000 dollars each, for a total of 1.1 million dollars to donate the incredible sculpture in support of medical research.

Giant Heart Balloon supports medical research

The sculpture will be on display at Toronto General Hospital and funds raised through Mr. Brainwash and 11 donors will support the research of world-renowned cardiovascular surgeon David Tirone.

"I am impressed by the generosity of these donors and Mr. Brainwash, this incredible gift will help advance my research now and into the future, allowing us to continue to provide the best possible care for patients at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre" - Dr. David Tirone

And this is not the first time Mr. Brainwash has collaborated with UHN and Grand Cru. As stated by Todd Halpern, founding chairman of the Grand Cru Culinary Wine Festival, who is also a board member of the UHN Foundation and UHN "Mr. Brainwash has graciously donated several of his works over the past few years that, through auctions, have generated significant funds for our hospitals. The 2021 Giant Heart Balloon is the culmination of this, and we couldn't be more grateful for his support."
